Pre-Authorized Payment Option

Paying a fee is one of the renewal requirements for LPNs. Each year, LPNs renew their practising registration between November 1 and December 31.

The pre-authorized payment (PAP) option is available to all LPNs holding practising registration who want to pre-pay for next year’s registration renewal fee.

The PAP option is not available for individuals holding non-practising registration.

What are the benefits of joining?

Spread out the cost of your practising registration fee by starting to pay for it in advance. By making payments towards next year’s practising registration fee, you won’t have to pay the entire amount at once. When you renew, you have already paid for all, or most, of next year’s practising registration fee. You can focus on other financial priorities at the end of the year!

How does PAP work?

Pre-authorized payments only go towards the cost of your practising registration fee. All other fees, such as the criminal record check, are separate costs.

Even though you are enrolled in PAP, CLPNBC will not automatically renew your registration. You will still need to apply to renew your practising registration by completing the application form each year.

CLPNBC does not withdraw payments in November and December. Between January and October, CLPNBC withdraws one pre-authorized payment each month. The amount of your monthly payment depends on when you start PAP. CLPNBC calculates your monthly amount by dividing the annual practising registration fee by the number of months you are paying into PAP.

The practising registration fee for 2018 is $350. If you are already enrolled in PAP, CLPNBC will withdraw $35 from your account each month between January and October.

If you sign up for PAP between January and October, the $350 fee will be divided by the number of months left in the payment cycle. For example, if your first payment is in March, $43.75 ($350 ÷ 8 months) will be withdrawn from your account each month until October 31. If your first payment is in May, $58.33 ($350 ÷ 6 months) will be withdrawn from your account each month until October 31.

If the practising registration fee increases, you may have an outstanding balance to pay when you apply for renewal.

Pre-authorized payments automatically continue each year.

How to sign up for PAP

Complete CLPNBC’s Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) form, attach a copy of a void cheque and mail both to CLPNBC

*If two consecutive attempts to collect PAP deductions fail, then participation in PAP is cancelled.  This means that you will have some money still to pay in order to complete your renewal application.

How to cancel PAP

Pre-authorized payments will continue each year. You can choose to stop your monthly payments at any time.

To cancel, submit a completed PAP Cancellation form at least 30 days before the next scheduled withdrawal from your bank account. If you have built up a credit balance in your PAP account, that amount will be subtracted from your practising registration fee next time you renew.

How to update your banking information

To update or change your banking information, you must submit a new Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) form, attach a copy of a void cheque and mail both to CLPNBC.
