Nurses as Guarantors

The new BC Government Gender Policy took effect mid-November 2013. It identifies LPNs as one of the possible guarantors for individuals who wish to change their gender in provincial accounts such as BC Driver’s Licences, BC Identification cards, the Medical Services Plan, and on BC Services Cards. The policy allows residents to change their sex designation with a letter from a physician or a psychologist without having to go through gender reassignment surgery.

For forms and for more information, please visit www.BCServicescard.ca/genderchange.
