Site Visitor for PN Education Program Review


Job Information:

The College of Licenced Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC) is accepting applications for the contract position of Site Visitor for the Practical Nursing Education Program Review. 

Site visitors are nurses who have experience in practical nursing education and in nursing curriculum development, implementation, or evaluation. They are practising registrants of CLPNBC, the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia, or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia. The site visitors are selected, contracted, and oriented by CLPNBC staff.   

A site visit is an on-site visit that is a required part of all practical nursing education program reviews. Based on CLPNBC’s Standards of Education Committee (SEC) instructions, site visitors collect and verify evidence by observing and speaking directly with those involved in the education program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read the reports of the education program submitted in preparation for the visit
  • Organize the details of the agenda for the site visit with the program under review (team leader)
  • Discuss the role of each team member and participate in the site visit accordingly
  • Collaborate with team members to review, collect and verify evidence through interviewing, document review and other methods
  • Participate in writing the site visit report; assist in organizing the report and reviewing the submission to ensure that all relevant material is included
  • Provide overall leadership, site visit coordination and submission of the report (team leader)
  • Offer suggestions to enhance the site visitor process
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent or teaching experience
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team
  • Understands the regulatory environment
  • Knowledge of CLPNBC’s Standards of Practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to apply policies to inform review practices
  • Time management skills and ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Willingness to travel around BC 

In addition, the Site Visitor Team Leader:

  • Has skills commensurate with a Master’s degree
  • Provides overall leadership, coordinates the site visit and submits the report

Compensation covers orientation, reviewing documentation for the site visit, planning the site visit, coordinating with staff, receiving direction from the SEC, and carrying out the site visit, preparing the summary report and follow up discussion with SEC. 

CLPNBC pays travel expenses based on CLPNBC’s Expense Policy.
