Discipline Committee Opportunity

The Discipline Committee is looking for members of the public to be a part of our mandate to protect the public. The Discipline Committee hears and considers cases involving serious matters and makes a determination based on the facts of the case.

Knowledge & Abilities

Preference may be given to volunteers who demonstrate some of the following:

  • Proficient with computers and able to successfully navigate online platforms
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of CLPNBC’s mandate, CLPNBC's discipline process and the Health Professions Act
  • Proven legal experience
  • Experience in another regulated health profession
  • Experience in chairing boards, committees or hearings
  • Experience in writing Decision and Reasons documents
  • Knowledge of policy development
  • Knowledge of judicial, quasi-judicial and/or tribunal adjudication processes
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Evidence and/or administrative law


  • Volunteer position
    • Meal, accommodation, travel and incidental expenses may be reimbursed according to CLPNBC policy.
    • Honorariums may be claimed for committee meetings, subject to CLPNBC policy.
  • Meetings and training are usually held in person.
  • Meetings are held as needed, upon issuance of a citation from the Inquiry Committee, and are usually scheduled during regular business hours.
